Finished Chapter 18 in Sassafras.
Homeschooling has been really rough since we lost Lucky. And Jessie's at camp, and Sam's still not sleeping at night.
Getting our new dog soon, hopefully things will pick back up next week.

July 20
Read the introduction and first four chapters of Where is the Colosseum? Had discussion about the wisdom and value in reading different books about similar subjects, because you get a different perspective from each. Even though we studied ancient history extensively earlier this year, we still found out some interesting new facts that neither of us knew about.
July 19
Finished reading Marco Polo, and started reading Neil Degrasse Tyson's book on astrophysics. Decided it was a little over his head (in that it was a little over MY head), and decided to get a different book on the subject that was more age appropriate.

Lucky passed away last week
Everything is temporarily on hold, at least in terms of the homeschooling schedule I had going.
Sam's sleep schedule is a complete disaster. He's not sleeping thru the night, I'm spending most of the week working on just trying to straighten that out.
My plan for this week is trying to get him healthy, with normal and natural sleep habits. We're homeschooling by reading a biography of Marco Polo (history) and the book "And Then You Were Dead" - which is oddly scientific, as well as gory as hell.

July 12
Went to Hermit Island for a few days. We didn't "homeschool" specifically, but he was learning the whole time. He also did audio books like a mad man, listened to all of Hunger Games and is about a third of the way thru Catching Fire.
Today, we did the first section in Chapter 18 of Sassafras.

July 7
We took Wednesday (I had to work/Sam had an appt with Caitlin), and Thursday (Dude turned 11!!) off from homeschooling. We did, however, get his new IPAD. And have spent many hours figuring out how to work it, and how to access the features that will work best for him, reading wise.
Today, we did math, chapter 15 and review questions. He's learning multiplication, division, fractions - and oddly enough, apiary stuff.
In history, we covered Chapter 17 - we did the sections on English Code of Chivalry and the Samari: Japanese Knights and answered the review questions for each one.

July 3
Took a few days off for summer :-)
This morning, we did the YTTP for Chapter 13, flash cards for the 2, 3, and 4 times tables and read chapter 14, and finished the YTTP for it as well. Yay math.
Just finished up Chapter 17 in Sassafras. We covered king penguin and codfish.
We finished reading Chapter 16 in Story of the World and completed the review questions at the end.
And then I shipped him outside with Julie to build a fairy house for Persephone and EagleFeather. We'll call it art class.
